Composites Manufacturer Provides Shower Pod Solution
A construction company that won a contract for building a new student accommodation development in Newcastle engaged the help of Lamplas Polymer Engineering’s technical team to
re-engineer the Showering area.
The client had previous bad experience with leaking shower trays that were not robust enough to handle the challenges of student accommodation living.
Lamplas worked closely with the architects and plumbers and came up with the solution of a one piece GRP shower pod.
Extensive use of core materials, technical fabrics provided the end result that met the client’s needs and still maintained a manufacturable component.
Lamplas came up with the solution of fixing the commercial grade valve to an external frame bonded to the outside of the pod, so only the controls were visible, this was then subject to a 60kg load test.
The shower drencher head was also fitted into the roof of the pod so there was no visible shower hose which could be easily broken.
The shower pods arrived at the client’s site fully plumbed and ready for assembly into the accommodation room.
